This is my attempt at making an "indie rock" type of song. It needs a lot more work, but I'm posting it anyway. It's a true Hella Gem in the rough. The lyrics are gibberish and the melody is improvised, as usual. I crack more high notes than ever before. There's not enough reverb in the world.
Unfortunately, the newish old guitar I was using for this track stopped outputting sound after I did the guitar take, so the solo had to be a Pro-53 synth instead of a guitar. I'm guessing the jack is messed up in some way. Such is life.
Anyway. The title was the temporary title I was using. I'll probably have to use it as a basis for the lyrics in the future, because all sorts of strange and wonderful narratives keep falling into my head when I read it.
Hey thought I'd post this little loop I made on the Korg DS-10 Synthesizer. I recently bought this and have been having fun with it, I didn't really make any serious music this couple weeks, but what the hay, might as well post what I have been doing. Hope you enjoy.
My apologies for being late, but I've been both busy and flustered. Flustered, because I decided to program my own dance beats from scratch, and it took awhile for it to stop sucking completely. Even now, it's kinda sad, but I'm posting anyhow. I've got my ducks in a row for fairly organic or heavy metal sounding drums, but lacking (frankly) the tools to make dance beats (I'm rounding up virtual roland beat boxes now) I went back to what I had. I did, long ago, rip the drums from a few games, and one of them was the gloriously dancy Streets of Rage 2. Mmmmmm....Yuzo Koshiro. So those drums, with a little filtering, are what make up the core of the dance beats for this song. They are loaded into live as a impact drumset and used to program all the beats for this. Though, to flesh out the sound a bit, I added some effects, some eq, and actually doubled the beats on one of the default Live impact drumsets at a lower level. Record some bass and guitar, add some effects to flavor (aside from guitar rig, everything has default Live 7 effects) and go.
I've also provided the Live set (sans guitars, for size and lack of annoyance with guitar rig and freezing tracks and such), for anyone who might want to use this for remixing. It also includes the sample sets involved, so anyone can build their own beats from the (admittedly limited) drum sound, or supply new drum sounds for the beats. Good luck to you all, and may more Live sets be forthcoming.
This is a beat i made recently using reason. I explored different ways of sequencing various drums, so there are more rapid fire sick ass hell drum fills. There is also a 'breakdown' which involves a piano sample from Brian Eno.
This week I finally got my bedroom recording rig in serviceable condition (much thanks to the help of lazy q), so I hope to be presenting a lot more material here in the near future. Right now, though, all I've got is... well...
Recently I picked up a swell amp. I've been playing around with it. It has a tube vibrato that I am keen on, it brought me to this chill little 3-4 chord progression. Then when I turned the amp up and played my new guitar in it, it made a chunky plunky sound when I muted the low strings and played a bass-like thing. Then I brought back the vibrato and stuck a small melodic line on top. Please excuse the hum - I still need to figure out some way to address that. It's from the guitar.
